Ewa Herzog Berlin Interview + Show1/29/2017
EN As I already told you in my Fashion Week Berlin Diary, I visited the Ewa Herzog Berlin Show and was invited to have an interview with the designer after the show. I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to meet this incredible fanastic woman. In my interview I asked her about her current collection, her inspiration and what tips she has for women who want to dress more feminine.
Me: What was your main idea of the collection? What was your inspiration?
Ewa Herzog: I had a great vacation in France in the late fall time. I was at a long and empty beach - it was the late afternoon. It started with the light: the sunset, the dusk - it was a beautiful game of the light. Waves. Dried algas that laid at the beach. I included all the colors in my collection. I really felt the colors. This is the reason why I called my collection "I can feel you". I even felt the woman in the colors. I wanted to give the women the same feeling by using these colors and certain fabrics. I wanted to convey the idea that a woman is as multifaceted as the nature. This was my inspiration.
Me: Do you have a favourite piece?
Ewa Herzog: No.
Me: What feeling should a woman have when wearing a piece of your brand?
Ewa Herzog: Each item of clothing is made with lots of love and positive energy. While wearing it it should give you the feeling of safety and comfort and that nothing is wrong with it. It's fairly produced and with love. A piece of clothing that will be handed over to the next one - at least this is what my wish is. I try to stay classic and not to go with every trend, I am not a fan of the throw-away-society.
Me: Do you have any stilistic role model who inspires you in your private life or for your work?
Ewa Herzog: This is difficult. There are a lot of inspiring people.
Me: Who do you have in mind right now?
Ewa Herzog: There is Helmut Netwon and his photography of women. He wanted to show that a nude woman is still a strong personality. This is what inspires me in fabrics. I use sheer fabrics but it doesn't mean that the woman is not dressed or crude.
Me: Why did you choose Berlin as your location?
Ewa Herzog: Well, Berlin is my history. It raised me.
Me: Once in an interview you said that it is completely normal for woman to be perfect styled in Russia while in Germany people look at you. What is your opinion about this topic today?
Ewa Herzog: It finally came to Germany, too! (She is very happy about it)
Me: What do you think influenced this transformation?
Ewa Herzog: I think women free themselves. They free themselves from the thought they have to be something others want them to be.
Me: Do you have any advice for women who want to dress more feminine and want to wear more High Heels but are still too shy to do that?
Ewa Herzog: Put all your trousers in a suitcase. Lock the suitcase. Throw away the key and only wear dresses for six months.
As you can see it is very important for Ewa Herzog that a woman is free and that she doesn't hide her femininity. This is exactly what her collection "I can feel you" implies. The clothes are full of colors you have on your mind thinking about sitting at a beach in France while watching the sunset. There is a lot of lace, beautiful flower details and elegant cuts. The items with sheer fabric are still very classy and underline Ewa Herzog's philosophy of strong women.
What every piece of her collection have in common? They are all timeless, classic, feminine and beautiful work of art at the same time.
I don't know about you but I fell in love with this collection.
